June 2009 -

ROCKFORD LIONS made a strong 3rd Place finish in the "Bedlam in Rockford" bed race at the Start of Summer festival.  Our brave team vowed to make a stronger showing next year - in style if not in placement.

BEADS! BEADS! BEADS! were distributed all through town as the ROCKFORD LIONS strolled along the Start of Summer parade route.  Both children and adults were delighted as they received these shiny baubles from our parade crew.  Our beautiful float was nominated as "Most Lionly".

OUR BEER TENT CREW worked continuously to ensure thirsty adults at the Start of Summer festival has a great outdoor venue at which they could whet their whistle.  In exchange for our services, participants enthusiastically funded our charitable programs.  Pizza, beer, and a private portable privy encouraged and refreshed our hard working team.

ROCKFORD FARM MARKET gained some great exposure right on Main Street during the Start of Summer festival weekend.  Although it was displaced by the carnival equipment, our Lion team hosted the market right through parade hours.  We will continue through the remainder of the summer with a new Lion Shed offering POPCORN at the regular location.

May 2009 -

HAMS SALES are wrapped up for another year.  We did need to sell a few at clearance prices but they are all sold now with some good looking income figures.  We should be able to have at least a close estimate on our net at this week’s meeting.

ANOTHER ROUSING SUCCESS was met on our recent White Cane Days fund raiser.  Our total collections for distribution to our vision programs was $2306 for the 2 days.  Thanks to all who stood out on street corners and a special thanks to the RHS kids who helped us out with the project this year.
